Hey Y'all. I will be picking up my new 5th wheel trailer this coming Saturday afternoon. Is there anything that I should know about that they may neglect to tell me about? I have never owned one before. They said they will give me a two hour walk through. I have downloaded a lot of information about what to check for. Hopefully they will cover everything that I will need to know. Any advice anyone?

just do a good "PDI" you can download them from many sites. it is easier to get things fixed before you buy then under warranty, congratulations

Congrats on your new 5er and hope you have many wonderful trips ahead of you. In 2 hours they should be able to cover everything you need to know, tell them ahead of time that you want to see all systems and appliances fully functional. Some dealers do a poor job of prepping before hand, we were fortunate as the dealer we purchased from had everything ready when we arrived. Some have taken video of their PDIs but the info is pretty straight forward and only experience on your own will fill in the details that they may not have covered or even knew about. This forum has a wealth of great info and with a bit of reading can answer most any question imaginable.

Take an RV friend with you, one who knows how things work and what to look for. Can't always depend on the dealer for accurate info. Our PDI guy at Camping World-Avondale was terrible when we bought our new Voltage. Luckily we were trading a fifth wheel so I knew what he didn't.

I have been doing this a long time and I learn something new every time I come here.Are you new to fifth wheels in general or just the purchase of a NEW one?Oops ... just re-read your post to see you've never owned one. For starters, here are some things to "bone up" on: torquing lug bolts before each trip, checking/monitoring tire pressure, how to avoid the "high hitch", the PULL TEST, best methods for using/dumping/flushing your holding tanks.

I was thinking of doing the video thing. Charging the battery for my camcorder right now. Will definitely take it with me. Thanks for the reminder.

Will be going to California on November 1st. Only for a month though. Will winterize it for sure when I get back.

You live somewhat near me apparently....or at least in the same state.

Be sure to get the scoop on how to winterize the rig. And don't forget to do it BEFORE we get a good hard freeze. If you live up high, it might already be pretty close to time.

PS - my tact is blow it out AND suck in RV anti-freeze. One or the other should be adequate. Don't forget the traps, the tanks and the low point drains.

Tom, I'm sure you will love the Silverback, and the customer service from Cedar Creek is great. Be sure to buy the 2nd year warranty from Forest River for $150 within I think 30 days of purchase.
I only ran the stock tires on mine for one year, and replaced them with Bridgestone Duravis R250's, in a 245 size.
