pin box crooked?

i will have the dealer look into it. i am not about to loosen, or take apart anything while it is still a brand new rig and under warranty.

I didn't have to take apart my front end to realize/confirm the welds on the pin box mounts were off side-to-side.

On a Lippert-made frame? I certainly wouldn't bet that it =was= square. Only way to check 100% would be to un-skin the front end and check the pin box mount against the frame itself. Yes, there might be enough slop in the trailer-side holes to square it up a bit, but I wouldn't worry much about it. I =would= go on record with both your dealer =and= the mfr. (maybe even a certified return-receipt letter, signed by a certified RV tech and/or the dealer's supposedly-factory-trained tech), so if anything does happen, you've given them notice of the defect.

There was a post on here a few years about where someone was having tire wear issues, so took his FW in for alignment. First thing they found was that the center of the king pin was a full 3/4" off-center. Think that might cause some axle alignment issues? Yep, Lippert-built frame.

Personally, I don't think you will have much of an issue, especially if you have a tilting-head hitch, like a B&W Companion.

I did the loosening of the bolts several times trying to reposition things and it did nothing to correct the issue. There was very little play between bolts and bolt holes to make much of any difference.

I mounted a large level on the pinbox and made sure it was level with the trailer and not the pinbox. So now going down the road my eye focuses on the level in the rearview mirror and I don't even notice the pinbox being unlevel. I have learned to just live with it.

Put a framing square against it, that would show you if it is not touching the bottom of the overhang and pin box evenly. It would drive me crazy too.

I think I would slightly loosen the bolts once parked on a dead level surface with the truck hitched. I would then pull very slightly forward dead straight to seat the bolts against the front edge of the holes and retorque. Worth a try.
A t square held horizontally against the pin box and side to side compared would be worth looking at.

Measure from over hang panel to bottom of pin box on each side

From your pictures it looks like it is tilted ------roadside down more then curbside
(curbside top forward bolt hole in pin box looks closer to over hang panel then roadside top forward bolt hole)

Pin box welded in crooked?
Pin box structure (support arms, braces etc) cracked/busted welds
Side wall bolts broken?

Have to drop over hang panel and thoroughly inspect ALL of the over hang structure! '


Any movement in pin box when you hitch/unhitch?
Easy to check ...just hitch up and then carefully watch for movement as you raise front landing gear legs shifting the weight from legs to truck and then back onto legs as you lower them to unhitch

No it looked like more work than it was worth and my unit was out of warranty before I noticed it.

i agreed with you on that. so you did nothing to see about repairing it? it functions and tows fine on mine too but drives me crazy.

Trailer frame. I can tell you my issue looked identical and it was the frame mounts for the pinbox were not welded on level side-to-side. One side was welded on ~3/8-1/2 higher than the other. It looks fugged up but I use an Andersen ball/socket hitch so know it doesn't affect the functionality. Quality control in this industry is practically non-existent.
