I don't think I would be sawing on that trail aire box. Sounds like your truck is sitting too high for the fw, or trailer was on lower ground than the tv when you turned. I only have about 4-5 inch clearance on mine and I know it is not enough, but refuse to tow with nose up. I just try to be careful and not turn too sharp when I'm on uneven ground.
