Pin Weight
Picking up our new fifth wheel on Saturday. First time fifth wheel owners. I was wondering when adding weight to the fifth wheel does this also add weight to the pin? I assume it will. Is there a way ...

While weight balance on a plane may help one understand tandem axles are not a true fulcrum. The axles and spring assembly will not teeter totter any weight near the axle assembly will go on the axles, with little effect on pin weight. Once to the area above the pin, then almost 100% goes on the axle.
If this is true then I won’t be as bad off as I thought I might be. I have access to scales within two miles of my home. I can easily check weights of the truck and trailer. Also just because the fifth wheel is capable of hauling up to 15000 total weight doesn’t mean that I have to! After all is done and loaded if it still is over or doesn’t work out I can and will trade the fifth wheel off for a lighter one. If you can’t trust the manufacturer of the RV and pickup to give you solid information about their products who the Hell can you trust?
