SeaRay- we were in a similar boat back in March and came across HL Enterprises Premier Elite brand. 44' bunkhouse weighing in at 15,600 gvwr. They run the gamut from cheap aluminum side to luxury fiberglass. Their main market is the oil patch areas. They don't use all the heavy hardwoods or marble (although I am sure they could if you wanted). Another similar company is Monte Carlo with units up to 55'!!! In CA there are max length limits so stay within that. We owned a Keystone product before and the quality on this Premier is night and day. As a bonus they are reasonably priced too. Only other note especially if you plan on traveling with it is to upgrade the wheels and tires; they spec junk because the majority get towed to the Dakotas and parked.
