Pressure tank

A few years back, it was popular to add a pressure tank or surge tank to the fresh water systems of RV's. The purpose was to have a small reservoir of water available to draw from without the on board pump kicking on, just like us country folks have on our own wells. At that time it was an entirely after market thing that owners plumbed in themselves.
My question is: Do any RV manufacturers include pressure tanks as standard equipment in their units?

  • I'm not aware of any factory installed but I have a 1 gal tank and have on my previous 2 RVs I wouldn't be without one.
  • I have not seen a accumulator as a item listed as a option on any RV. I put on a 1 quart accumulator on my water pump when my RV was about 6 months old, it makes the pump very quiet, allows for some trickle of water use at night without starting the pump, and when you do trickle the water flow, the pump is on for about 4 seconds at a time, and will not sound like a marching band (like before without the accumulator).

Later I installed a 1 gallon water accumulator. It works very well, and I can use a lot of water between cycling the pump.
