Problem starting generator

I'm having a problem starting my generator. My batteries are charged. My lights work in the trailer on battery power. But, when I try to start the generator from the switch inside the trailer... nothing. So, I thought I'd be clever and try and start it form the switch directly on the generator itself... still nothing.

Thoughts or experience with what may be causing this? Thanks in advance for your help! I appreciate it.

  • The Mod made one little error a period or a word but whatever, don't use the OHM setting to check voltage. Actually, I would start at the switch and check for voltage, then to the generator. I don't know for sure that the start stop switch is fused, check the manual. If it is remove it and check for voltage and reinstall the fuse and then move on to the switch. If no voltage to the first thing in line, check the battery connections. Always start at the source and go one item at a time until you lose power.
  • What if anything does it do? If you hold the off button is there a noise from the fuel pump? When you push start does it make any sound at all?
On mine there are 2 fairly large power wires coming off the left corner of the generator, and leading to the batteries. Do you have these? Are they both connected?

Good point! I'd say if you don't know how to use one, or the settings, its time to get somebody that does.
  • If it doesn't even crank, are you sure your batteries aren't dead? Can you back your truck around and hook up some jumper cables and try again?
