Problem starting generator

I'm having a problem starting my generator. My batteries are charged. My lights work in the trailer on battery power. But, when I try to start the generator from the switch inside the trailer... nothing. So, I thought I'd be clever and try and start it form the switch directly on the generator itself... still nothing.

Thoughts or experience with what may be causing this? Thanks in advance for your help! I appreciate it.

  • Check Battery, terminals, etc. also, most have a low oil level switch that will keep them from running with low oil levels, so check that. There may also be a fuse between the battery and the generator.
  • Are your battery terminals clean and tight? A little corrosion can cause problems.
