problem with day nite shades

I found on our 2002 Sierra that you have to be right in the middle of the window and raise them evenly on both sides to even get them up.
I hate them with a passion.My husband says they are easy! HA!

When we went to the beach one June I had to cover the windows with foil on the west and south side to cool the camper with a central a/c! It was ugly, but it worked while we were there.I have since bought some tension rods and insulated curtains to use over the shades in that situation again.

I'm still swearing at ours four years later. I liked them at first. One of these days, one of these days.....POW! right in the dumpster! And replace with mini-blinds.

Replaced mine with fishing line.

If they have always been hard to move, the strings are probably too tight. Just loosen the screw where the strings attach to the window frame and take a little tension off.

Mine were so tight that I had to unknot the ends to get them loose enough.
They are now loose enough to even pull the big ones with one hand.

Cursed and swore at them when we first got them but love them now.

The best lubricant for the string is WAX the best form is Bees Wax. Although the soap will work it will add unwanted chemicals to the string like LYE or Sodium Hydroxide that's what they use to process soap. This will create havoc down the road when the strings start breaking. I found releasing the tension and waxing works well along a dab of glue to the fabric and support bracket that serves as the divider/ handle. Place the glue at the most outer edges to prevent the fabric from sliding and, causing the support bar to tilt. Good luck It Fixed mine.

They are not designed to ever be raised or lowered together.

If the day shade is harder to pull down, make sure the night shade is pushed up all the way in the up position.
