propane tanks?
Do you open both propane tanks at once ( this is what I am doing) or do you do like the guy next door to us and open one tank at a time?

- Are you asking if you need to open both valves simultaneously? I open both, not necessarily slow, but one at a time.
- So do you leave your valve set a 3 12 or 9 O'Clock not sure mine works the way it should?
- One valve open. I am not convinced my auto-changeover works (should try it sometime I suppose) and I am SURE the red / green thingy doesn't. I had a pigtail leaking at one time also. Guaranteed surprise :)

If I have to get up at 3 am cause furnace quit due to lack of propane I'm not going to find a place open to refill both tanks :B
I'm not getting up at 3 am anyway...just snuggle up closer, open up the other cylinder valve in the morning when I do get up as I go fill the empty bottle.
YES..the auto changer regulator is designed/installed so both cylinder valves can be opened.
I really don't want to spend my time opening the propane compartment and checking the indicator ----RED---GREEN---
besides I'm lazy and forgetful and by the time I do check it's partially RED and already swapped.
So it's one valved in and one waiting in standby valved out.
The GF likes it when I snuggle up so sometimes I just valve out the in service one :B

- Open both, so you don't have to go out in the rain or middle of the night.
Then check often for the red tank-empty flag.
Most of the year for us, one tank lasts several months. In freezing weather, when a tank may not last 72 hours, I check every day. - Both open
- either way,works, but open slow.
