Propane

Hello all, just pulled the trigger on a 2019 cedar creek champagne 38EL. My issue is I ordered the Onan 5500 Genny with the auto start. I’m starting to think that if I go boondocking, I’m going to run short. Where and how do you carry extra bottles. I know how much it uses but with the auto start does anybody have ideas. My wife says no A/C no go....please help. Thanks and happy 4th
  • In my opinion, lp genset X are perfect for running the air at a rest stop for an hour or so. Boo docking, running air? I don't think so, unless you run for propane every second day.
  • This is the problem with any LP generator I've seen, be for home, commercial or RV use. It drinks too much fuel to be effective in my opinion. I have family who just installed a LP 20KW generator, and it will empty the tank in a little over a day of power outage. That's no good. I'll always favor a traditional fuel generator until/unless the fuel efficiency of LP units improves significantly.
  • Anywhere they can be secured upright. Even in the trailer is fine while in motion. Need to pull them outside upon arrival.
  • I carry an extra 20 in my truck bed. I bungee it but also have a chain and padlock to the ring tie down in the corner of the bed. It does discourage theft but keeps it from possibly being a projectile.

They make holding brackets that use an over center lock handle.
  • Thanks for the quick response. I have not picked it up yet. I have a 2017 Ram 3500 Dually with long bed. I have a small tool box. Do you think that is my only option?
