I too had a Hijacker in my last truck which was a Ford F-350. I agree that I never felt the need to do a pull test because when the bar is closed there is really no way an incident can happen, other than high hitching of course. I really wanted to keep that hitch but it would not work with the Ram picture frame adapter.
I had a Ram (Curt) 20k sliding hitch thrown in the deal on my current truck and it is a completely different animal than the Hijacker was with the dual jaw set up. I was a bit intimidated by it when we first got the truck and started doing a pull test as part of my hook up routine and am still doing so 2 years later. I am much more confident in the hitch now but we have a 6 year old son so packing up and hitching is full of distractions at times so I feel that it is good insurance to keep doing so. Also as much as I hate to admit it I'm not quite as sharp as I was 15 years ago. :S
