Now if you do a brake test and the rig falls on the ground from 1/4" off the ground at around 1 mph...your alternative is the landing gear is 1-2ft off the ground and you are cruising down the road at 30-60mph. I know which one I would rather have happen.
I don't worry about stressing the Landing Gear, wheels fully chocked, LG has an inch or two of slop at the ground. The 5er never moves that much. I do the pull test as soon as the pin is captured, so very little weight on the pin, if not latched, or high hitched much easy to pull out. If you raise the LG so full weight is on the pin the force required to pull out is very high.
