With a B&W there is no reason to do a pull test unless a person wants to. I am sure other hitches are in the same boat. With the RBW I had prior I ALWAYS did a pull test.
All that is required is VISUALLY confirm the following. Visually confirming is a test!
1. confirm the hitch plate and kingpin plate are touching.
2. confirm the 1" thick jaws are closed around the kingpin.
3. confirm the handle is closed and pinned or LOCKED as I prefer.
If you confirmed visually all the above there is NO REASON to do a pull test.
That is how "I" do it and if someone wants to do a PULL test have at it, it's just another way to confirm what I can do by just LOOKING.
But hey the hitch mfg says "do a pull test", no kidding! It's called CYA! YES some hitches you should do a pull test. But there are some a person can use that long lost thing called "common sense"on!
