The trucking industry overwhelmingly requires their drivers to do pull tests, and every hitch instruction I have seen says to do it. We're probably doing a disservice to those who are new fiver owners to suggest they are not important
Yeah the loading yard I sub'ed out of had a tug test policy as other shippers. If we were caught not doing a tug test we were terminated.
Hitch brand makes no difference as even the OTR pro grade hitches can be hi pinned or even a mechanical malfunction. The tug test simply eliminates those two issues.
I still have the habit regardless of 5th wheel hitch type/brand.
