My 2013 Chevy 2500hd Diesel if you going down the road empty and hit two haul mode it would down shift to 5th gear and the RPM would go up. In two haul mode on my Chevy it would never shift in 6th even on flat ground.
Fast forward - Today I own a Ford f350 Diesel and it runs ins 6th gear in two haul mode and only down shifts on hills.
I would say if you can use tow haul mode and it doesn't lock out OD then you will be fine.
