I currently have a trailer with dry wt of under 4500# but want to get a new 5th wheel that shows dry weight of 7225#. I understand a fifth wheel pulls different than a trailer, but need some input from someone who knows. Any help would be great!

250 gasser would pull that with lots of of safety margin.

Like always, watch your payload numbers!

As WNYBob said, make sure your payload numbers are good and that you buy the right hitch. You didn't mention the brand/model of 5th wheel and what size bed the truck has so you may or may not need a slider hitch.

1. Get 16 inch rims and G rated tires2. Get a long bed truck3. Buy Diesel truck with a Exhaust Brake4. Contact Transfer Flow in Chico ca. To replace your stock fuel with an auxlilary larger fuel tank. 60 gal or larger.

If you can handle approximately 1400 pounds of pin weight plus people and stuff in the truck, you’re good to go.

As others have already said, you'll have no problems. Earlier this year I got rid of our '02 F350 7.3L for a new '19 F350 6.2L w 4.30 gearing. Tow a fully loaded 12K# Grand Design 303RLS 5th wheel. I love it! Sure, it revs up when going up steep hills but I've never once felt it to be lacking power or struggling. So far after towing around 2000 miles since June, it's averaged right at 8mpg when towing.

You will be fine. Diesel trucks are great but overkill with that fiver. Avoid the G rated tires, since they may induce a very rough ride on a unit that small.

Our 5th is 6900# dry and we easily pull it with our 2012 Chevy 6.0 gas.

Diesel? G rated tires? The OP isn't asking about pulling a 40' trailer.

You will be fine. I pull our fifth wheel with same truck. Yes it does pull a lot better than travel trailer does. We had only travel trailers for years and got our fifth wheel a year and half ago and will not even think about going back to travel trailer. We have pulled it in smokies and no problems

Your biggest concern will be getting the Reflection 150 series to sit level. It's a "Made for 1/2 ton" 5th wheel so the front over hang is lower than most.

You should be fine. Just towed my KZ Durango 281RLT @ just under 10,000 lbs over 5 major passes in Colorado with my F250 6.2 w/3.73 elocker rear. We were not always the fastest but made it over all without issue.

You forgot to mention B&W, Mobile Suite , Ram truck, and whatever he's does do not get an Andersen hitch , OH, or Curt hitch . :B

try it out, I think you will be pleased since you apparently are not anti gas.

I have been pulling my 10K loaded fifth wheel with the 6.2 since 2012. Yank it thru the smokies at least once a year.

If you do not have the 4.30 diffy you will probably need to drop it down one gear quite often. Have fun out there.

I have a 5th wheel that weighs about 10K lbs loaded and pulled it easily with my 96 F250 w/7.5L / automatic. You will have no problems as the 6.2L likely has more giddy-up than the ol' 460.
