Well, after looking around, we decided on the Jayco Seismic 4112. We looked it over again for about the 3rd. time today and though it's lacking a few things, the wife really likes it and so do I...two full baths, washer/dryer hook up, residential fridge, 5500 Onan generator, even a dishwasher:E..Has a GVW of 20,000# and probably a pin weight probably close to or a little over 4,000# or more....(have the truck and hitch for it:)....The king bed takes up a lot of room in the bedroom and not as much "clothes space as in our HR, but there is a lot of room elsewhere to put clothes. Doesn't have a convection oven, but guess we can buy one, (has a microwave)....Love the floor's and full body paint makes it really look good.I'm towing a 39' 9" 5er now, loaded to 16,300# and this unit is 5' longer...guess I'll have to make wider curves? :)...Unless something happens, this will be the unit the wife and I will spend a lot of our retirement in.. Any input from anyone? With 2 yr warranty and pretty decent insulation structure, believe it'll work..Whatcha think:).Jim

Cheap China Bomb Tires are the weak link on most all Toy Haulers. Anything is negotiable, what size rims does it come with? If it has 16" that's a good start, dealer can arrange to swap them out with something else, of course it's all about the money. Sounds like you may not be using the Fuel Station in the Toy Hauler, but I'd still test it out by bringing a 5 gallon gas can and putting some in the tank and pumping it back out to make sure the pump works. Most of the other things are the same on a Toy Hauler or any other 5er. Just test each item out before you sign the final paperwork. Dealers are much more eager to get things fixed when it means a sale or not, once you sign the paperwork it's a warranty repair and they have to go through Jayco first. PDI List

This unit puts you over 40 feet long which I read is regulated in some states. What are you plans for travelling with that in mind? Do you need to get a special license or do you think you won't get pulled over?

Where I live, length of the rig is not a factor - it's the weight. I have to have a Class A license. Because I'm over 65, I have to pass a medical every year and written test. It's probably different where you are.

To add to my earlier, I don't know of any states in the southeast that require any special licensing. That doesn't mean I know what I'm talking about. But I've not heard of any such thing.

NC Hauler is going from western NC to W. Va.. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Thanks buddy, I'm double checking everything, but have talked to the DMV about what I need...only thing at this point, in NC, IF I call it "home", you pay for GCWR....I'm "ballparking", possibly 29,000#, based on my weight with loaded to 16,300# 5er and truck at 25,250..IF I loaded the TH to 20,000#, which is highly unlikely, that would put me at 29,250...I'd have to cover 30,000#...registration would run me around $900..

I would also make trips "out west" when we could, so I would do some traveling in other states, but I don't see an issue with that if my license and registration is in order....

main concern for me was wondering how much difference in cornering would be in going from a 39' 9" long 5er to a 45' 5er

I went from 35' to 44' and not too much difference in cornering EXCEPT the distance from rear axle to rear of trailer can get tricky in tight areas. When pulling forward into pull-through spots making tight turns I have to keep an eye on the back end swing more than I used to.

Hi Jim wow what a purchase you have made. I was surprised it was a TH so what toy will be riding with you? Now for my question about the length it is do you think you will have a problem backing into an rv site. We have almost never had a back in site for our winter tow back and to home but sometimes pull through's are full. Enjoy the adventure.

Dont have any toys Larry , but will have plenty of room for bicycles, some exercise equip and room to store stuff. Lots of room for wife and pet's. Getting ready for retirement. Guess I will have to be selective in where I go. Most of time will be spent on my property in WVa. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

Congrats on your choice, I love mine (3902) and have been very impressed with the coach. as far as towing differences, the first couple turns each way will show the track and its easy from there. I also graduated from a 40 footer and was nervous at first, now I honestly feel this one pulls better. Be prepared for the looks you get, seems to get attention wherever we go.

We downsized from a 45' Cyclone to a 33' Work & Play. But that was because the prior camper was the least dependable thing I've ever owned. For our races, the Work & Play is the way to go.

But that being said, one thing I have to look forward to after I hang up my racing helmet for good is getting another really big fifth wheel. Once you go big, its hard to go back in my opinion. Just because it takes a little extra effort to back it into a spot is nothing compared to having all that room. I really miss that.
