Pullrite Fifth Wheel Hitch

I just starting get a lot of slop in the jaws of my 4 month old Pullrite 18k fifth wheel hitch. Although not the auto slider, the locking jaws are the same.
This is my second Pullrite hitch and I loved the first one and it was trouble free. I always was impressed with the lack of slop in the locking jaws. NEVER any banging or play.
Four months ago I got a new truck and had another Pullrite (non-slider) hitch installed. Took delivery of a new fiver in March. This new RV and the old one that I pulled with the other Pullrite hitch both have MorRyde pin boxes.
I have only had the new rig out a few times and noticed this week that the new hitch has a lot of slop in the jaws. I'm really disappointed as I have never had this with the previous hitch. You can actually see the play and it bangs and jerks upon starting and stopping.
I plan to call Pullrite on Monday morning but in the meantime wonder if anyone else has experienced play in the Pullrite hitch. If so, what did you do about it. This is really annoying and makes me think something is not right. Thanks in advance. Phillip

I am going to call them tomorrow and see what they say. I will post what they tell me for others to see. In the meantime and since the weekend, I figured I'd see if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks. Phillip

Read the book you got with the hitch. Easy adjustment. You can also look at it on youtube.

I HAVE read the book that came with it. There is NO adjustment on the non slider hitch. I am familiar with the nylon block cam arm adjustment on the Superglide hitch. However, I as I mentioned, this is not a Superglide. Thanks, Phillip
  • I have the same hitch and I do have some clunking but I thought it was normal. I can find nothing on adjustment for clunking.
