On pin weight, I can only go by manufacturer's info, since I haven't anything else to go on yet.
Speaking more from experience than anything else, and a 5er that weighs in at 20,000#, if that's the one you'll go with, COULD have a pin weight of up to 4,000#, unless it's a VERY light unit...Is it two axle or three axle?
Again, I'd still want to know some of my trucks ratings, if you go with a 20,000# 5er, that is a pretty heavy 5er, even for a 1 ton dually.....
2 axle on all of them. Most of the ones we are serious about are in the 16-17,000 gvwr range.
Ford says the GCVWR on my rig is 30,000, and maximum 5th wheel towing is 22,200. I THOUGHT that would be enough truck. I wanted the dually for extra confidence in towing that much weight. With the fivers we are looking at, we should be under the maximums, which is what I want.
Didn't mean to upset you...I'm sure there are a lot of Ford guy's in here that can make you feel better...I have no idea the GVWR or the GCWR of your truck..if the Fords GCWR with the 3:73 is 30,000#, that's more than mine and I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to tow the 20,000# rig. I will assume the truck will easily handle the possible 4,000# pin weight, Sounds like you already knew what you wanted. I apologize for having asked the questions. Again, I'm sure some Ford owners will come in here and tell you everything will be fine with your Dually towing a 20,000# 5er...I apologize for evidently, having upset you.
