There's no float, the back pressure in your main tank keeps it from over filling. If you want to take the cap off you have to shut the manual valve from the tank. I put a 12 volt valve from ebay in line so I just turn it on when it gets down to half tank and leave it on running down the road put it on ing. circuit so it shuts off when you turn truck off so no problems.
