I've had a RDS transfer tank in my pick up for three years now, in fact I removed and re-installed it into my 2015 RAM with NO over flows. I believe one of the other responders hit the nail on the head, you may have the T too close to the main fill.
If you haven't already called RDS I would, I called them last fall when my locking cap failed, the man I spoke to was very helpful, I'm sure they'll have some suggestions for you. BTW, I love my transfer tank if I had one regret it would be I wish I had a larger one. I bought a 45 gallon wish I had the size you bought. :S
