Rail mount brackets

Best if the 16 had the pucks.

I could see going either way. If you do the work yourself I could see how it would be worth it. If you are paying someone you are going to pay them twice. (Once to remove, and once to install)

There are options for you to have a flat bed when you are not towing. Rails work well but some prefer not having rails if you are not towing a fiver.

If you are interested in those options just let us know. There are a LOT of options out there.

When we got our '15, I just let the rail go w/ old truck (traded in). Got new rails and installed w/ full frame brackets instead of little brackets. New truck didn't have the puck option on it. IMO, just get new rails if that's what your current hitch mounts to and your not getting a new hitch.

I almost always have a goose neck ball in the bed for equipment trailers, so I will continue to have rails in bed.
I will be dismantling...or at least that's the plan.

New truck, new brackets and rails, due to the rust from road salt. I don't haul gravel in my truck, so the flat bed means nothing to me. I do haul objects that need tied down, and my ties go into the slots on the rails.

If you wanted to transfer the rails and brackets I would research the Curt website or similar and confirm the exact same brackets are used for both trucks. The frame brackets are a pain to install and might not be a picnic to remove. If it were me I would spend the $250 and get all new hardware.

I'm in the same boat right now. Wrote off my 08 Dodge last week and now looking at a 2014 Ram 2500. The 14 takes different brackets so they stay with the 08 but the rails will move to the new one.

B&W has a slider and non slider puck hitches.

Well, I got them off. Now I will have to see if they fit the predrilled holes in the frame of the 2016. If the mounting brackets work I will sand and repaint prior to installing.

Me, I would not crawl under there and deal with the older mounting brackets.

Go to etrailer and get new mounts and do it one time with the new stuff.

Tht would be my route.
