Ram Fifth Wheel Prep and Reese Adapter

Just bought a new Ram 3500 with prep package. Using the Reese RP3014 adapter and getting some play from the hitch to the adapter. Adapter is tight in bed, but hitch moves slightly within the adapter. Wondering if anyone else had the same issue and if any of you found a solution. Stop signs and red lights are noisy...

  • I have a reese 16K hitch with the picture frame adapter, I am using the pins and not the bolts. I will look into the B&W, but the entire setup is Reese, I thought it would just work. Perhaps it is because it is the 16k and not the 20k?? Thanks!!

The only thing that I do not like about the new trucks is that stupid fuel additive. Heck we are already spending almost $4 a gallon, then add this extra additive to it and it is almost $4.25. Don't sound like much but geez this is getting crazy.

If, and your signature indicates you are, you are running Cummins, then be aware they DO NOT recommend a fuel additive.

There are limited special case scenarios where they in fact do say use an additive, but memory fails me. I think :S these are limited to anti-gell situations in extremely cold conditions.

  • I use a B&W Patriot in my Reese picture frame adapter and it is snug. No movement.
  • What hitch are you using? Is the hitch bolted onto the adaptor or pinned? I am using the MOPAR adaptor which I think is the same as the Reese and I have a Superglide bolted onto it. It is solid as a rock. No give and no noise.
  • I would highly recommend you sell your setup and buy a B&W. They are rock solid and have a very positive locking no frills locking system.
