I am surprised that so many hate an HOA. We live in a rural sub that has minimal restrictions & we can keep our RV at home as long as it does not extend past the front of the home. I want an HOA so my neighbor can't store multiple vehicles on their front lawn, etc. I would not want an HOA with restrictions that require paint color approval, etc. Our HOA restrictions cannot be changed without 100% of property owner's agreement. I read the restrictions prior to purchase & wanted a neighborhood with just enough restrictions to protect my property values. I suggest as others, that rules interpretation be discussed openly at an HOA meeting. Most neighbors will be reasonable. If not, maybe you are in wrong neighborhood.
