This is EXACTLY why we have stayed out of subdivisions with HOA's. Yep.. you occasionally end up with a "derelict" home in the area, but NO ONE tells you what you can and can't do on your property. Also.. if they have not kept the rules fully enforced you MIGHT have a little wiggle room there.
