We’ve been using a 2008 2500 ¾ ton Chevy Duramax long box SRW to pull our last fiver; 12,000 pounds and 1,800 pin. In 2011 we bought a new trailer that comes in at 14,200 and a pin of 2160. We travel about 6-10,000 miles a year all over the country and have doing this since we retired 14 years ago. Last year going into a campground we had to go up a 16-degree grade and in a few days come down. The Chevy has done a great job with no problem.
We decided this year to get a new truck and this we week we ordered a F350 1 ton SRW. For the way we travel and use our truck we prefer a SRW to a DRW. It will fit into our garage and I can take it through a car wash and it’s a bit easier to hook and un hook. I’m sure that the DRW is a more stable platform but the SRW we’ve used the last 6 years has done a good job for us.
