Don't skimp on the support cables. Earlier this summer a friend of mine was standing on his ramp holding his grandbaby and the motorcycle tie-down straps he was using broke. He and the baby rolled down the ramp, but he held on and protected the kid all the way down. Could have been a disaster.
These ramps are a huge lever and put crazy stress on the supports.
My cables are factory.
But the toddler fence or xpens sounds like a temp fix until I find a good deal on rails. - tomman58ExplorerI have always thought of these as special need or useless. I watch the one with the side porch this allows you to do the Grey Poupon thing with you neighbor in most rv parks. As for the one on the back you can watch you neighbors TV if you wish.
I've always worked to be out of the TT as that is why we RV. If I wanted to be couped up I would've stayed home!
Soon to go for a campfire and dogs & beer........ camping. - dedmistonModeratorDon't skimp on the support cables. I saw someone using toddler "fencing" around theres this weekend, plastic panels that dovetail together for making play areas for toddlers, size seemed to fit very well. Couple of bungies and it was pretty secure.
I would just tie a pork chop around the kids neck so the dog would play with him before I would drop that kind of coin. - naytherExplorerI saw someone using toddler "fencing" around theres this weekend, plastic panels that dovetail together for making play areas for toddlers, size seemed to fit very well. - 1320FastbackExplorerI just use dog Xpens to line our door when it's used as a patio. We carry quite a few Xpens as our trialer is mainly a rolling kennel anyways. Lol
edit: Dogs travel in truck from A to Z. - jmbstudiosExplorerBy the way, my door is the same door used for patios. Just doesnt have the rails. Cables, no rails.

Lippert sells the rails but says only to dealers. One other thing, your door is not the same door used for patios. It lacks a sheet of metal over the plywood.
You've seen my door?
Spooky..... - lightfootExplorer IIIOur 2015 Voltage has the patio setup but no special sheet metal. I was just at a rv show in Lake Co Illinois and there were 2 toy haulers there with the patio and no special sheet metal on the ramp door.
- Bert_AckermanExplorerI'd guess and say because when used as a patio it gets more abuse and is subject to weather, as in rain. One thing is certain and that is with Lippert anything additional in the support / strength department is a good thing. Personally I see no use in having a 64 sq.ft. elevated patio off the back of a trailer with railings around it, but whatever does it for you.
