We have not had any problems with dish breaking etc. We do put non slip strips along the bottom of all cabinets and often between plates when traveling but would do so no matter where the cabinets were located.
In somewhat smaller 5'ers (Ours is 30') the rear kitchen makes sense. It allows for a large living room instead of having the kitchen counters etc. along the side wall. We love our rear kitchen 5'er and greatly prefer it.
