Rear Kitchen Question

We normally leave knives, dishes and coffee maker sitting on the rear counter without incident. I did lose the dish rack and a cake that were sitting on the rear counter last year when I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a bicycler. I think all we broke was a cup handle.
