We are on our third fiver; our first 2 were rear kitchens and our current one is a rear living room.
Our first fiver was a 27' Terry with a single slide and rear kitchen. Our second was a 30' Citation with single slide and rear kitchen. Both of these trailers had excellent cabinet space and counter space because of their layouts. They were both a bit "iffy" as to how the contents of the cabinets would be when arriving at a destination due to the rougher ride of the rear kitchen. Shocks make a huge difference in this regard.
Our current fiver is a 36' Corsair (Citation) with 3 slides and rear living room. We LOVE this trailer and it is our favorite by far. The large rear windows provide excellent views as noted earlier and our table/chairs and sofa slide out on the curb side so it is facing OUR campsite and not our neighbours.
My opinion is that a rear kitchen is likely the best layout for storage and counter space in a unit under about 30'. I also think that a rear living room works best with opposing double slides in the main living/kitchen area. This provides the entertainment area in the living room area and still has a definition between the living room and kitchen areas. We looked at several rear living room models with chairs at the rear and entertainment center way up by the table and chairs which made no sense at all. We saw this primarily with single slides in the living area. JMHO.
