Started a new thread so i don,t hijack johndeerefarmer thread on his great job building a rear rack for his rig. Then a bunch of people or a few. proceed to tell them that its wrong or wont work or is dangerous. When it is statistically not really a problem.
As for me I hope i am not punished or banned for disagreeing with a Moderator.
Statistically, I don't believe it is a major problem either.
Nevertheless racks do fail and fall off. In each case there is a major risk faced by the traffic behind the RV that losses something.
Furthermore the driver often does not realize anything has happened an just keeps going. Hopefully things remain attached and are dragged along. Worst case items/rack become detached and create a major road hazard for the traffic behind the RV.
Thanks wanderingbob for posting your experience.
Ultimately the racks construction is only as good as the person who designed the rack. In some cases the rack was fabricated by a certified welder, other times by a shade tree mechanic.
In either case I imagine there is seldom any real engineering or certification of the racks. It's a big country out there to think there are not racks that fail is a bit naive.
No it's not an epidemic but it does happen.
Much in the way you will/should not be punished or banned for stating your opinion even if it disagrees with the moderator.
You should also keep an open mind concerning post that disagree with your point of view.
Simply see them as a dissenting opinions and not an attack or challenge to your post.
Some may love the rack posted in the prior thread and some may question the design or see flaws.

Wow this sounds really scary for the new guy or gal to rving but yet you still did not show any examples of it. Buy posting other threads and or pics from this forum to show this to be a real concern.
I never said it couldn,t happen but you edited that out.

I always keep an open mind concerning post that disagrees with my point. I just would like to see some evidence from some of the posters on here that keep the same old fears going post after post.
"Racks Break"
"Frig danger while driving"
"Honda or nothing"
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

I have no need to have opinion or post agree with me. I would like to see post that tell someone that something is wrong or dangerous when replying to someones thread, simply have evidence/referance to prove there opinion not just an opinion. And mostly the same old subjects.
This is just a disservice to the new RVer
