Your slides stopping and starting are simply a weak breaker. They are heat triggered and when it gets too hot it shuts down for 5 seconds or so until it cools then automatically resets itself. Follow your battery cable and it will lead to it. Simple fix...won't hurt anything if you leave it as is either.
