Recommendations for new AC

Good to hear it's not too loud. Doesn't your new one have the auto fan setting? Mine comes on high, if setting is about 6 degrees lower than ambient temp, and changes to low when approaching set temp.

Maybe you'd have to change the thermostat to newer style with auto setting on fan.

A quick update. I found the installation instructions on line and I exchanged the units (with the help of 2 neighbors) yesterday. The hookup went well and my new AC is blowing cold. The compressor noise is barely audible. The blower on high is kind of loud but it blows a lot harder than the old unit. Not so loud to be an issue. Once it cools down I'll change it to low speed.

Thanks. I ended up getting the Brisk Air II. I checked the box and the ceiling panel and no installation instructions. I'm about to search the web for them.

Our Rear/Main ducted Brisk Air is quieter than the OEM AC. We added a Mach low profile direct vent to the Bedroom and its VERY loud. Wish I had a Brisk Air there too. Both of my ACs were "retrofitted/installed" by myself in June 2013.

I've always like Dometic. If it were me, I'd consider replacing with a Brisk II Air, and if your normal camping climate dictates, making it a heat-pump version. I find that I use that feature much more than expected in the late spring early fall to take the chill off.

I have had excellent luck with my Atwood Air Command 15,000btu unit that was purchased and installed a couple of years ago. Cools and heats very well and is quite a bit quieter than the Dometic Duo Therm unit that finally gave up the ghost after about 12 years.

I have two Coleman Mach's on mine, ducted 15K and direct 13.5. They were louder than my previous unit's Briskair's but I figured out it was because the condenser fans are poorly balanced. I balanced them and they are much more quiet than anything I've had before.
But unless, you can balance them, they suck.

While any RV AC is noisy, I don't think mine is any louder than others. I usually just set it to auto, and unless really hot out, it just cycles on/off but stays on low fan setting.

Thanks. A dealer suggested I get a Brisk Air II because it would be a pretty direct replacement. The ceiling grill on-line looks exactly like the one I have.

A few of the reviews say it is noisy. Is your any louder than a normal rooftop AC?
