Recommendations Please on new rig

We are now officially retired and looking at a 5th wheel to travel in. We have just acquired a '15 GMC 3500 HD Crew Cab DRW w/8'bed, Turbo Diesel, Rhino lined and B&W Companion Hitch/turn-over ball.

We have been looking at new and used 36' to 38' DRV Mobile Suites; Grand Design Solitude 369RL; Heartland Big Country 3650RL, and the Forest River Cardinal 3850RL. Which of these do you think is the better unit for 6 - 8 months on the road bouncing between Arizona and Montana? In looking at the used market it is evident all these units take a huge hit in depreciation. I want to also get a generator installed for dry camping at Quartzite.

I know there is a world of experience on this forum and I appreciate your thoughts.
  • Thanks for the replies, I forgot to list that the truck is a DRW unit.
  • DRV could overload your truck since you did not say if it was a dually or SRW.

38 DRV would be a load for a SRW.

  • I have a 2013 Mobile Suites 38RSSB3 towed for over 10K with no issues and would buy again. We the Morryde IS suspension rides & tows great.
