Redwood or Solitude?

I wouldn't buy either one...But if the price is the same... the Redwood is the better buy. It should be worth a lot more.

Well, we bought a 2014 Redwood 36RL in Sept 2013. It has been in the shop all but a month since then and going back into the shop for more repairs as of today. The Redwood has a lot "glitz" to it and that's what got us in Sept. We have had major problems with our unit from leveling system, to slide-out problems, to microwave problems to assorted other problems. It's going back to the shop because the sliding bedroom doors splintered some how when we took it to storage last week. I will say that Redwood has covered all repairs and continues to do. Unfortunately, we traded in a perfectlly good toy hauler for a high end (costly) residential unit and are having nothing but problems and grief. Thanks for listening.I could say even more, but I won't.

Try looking for either of those models by 'advanced search'ing the headings in fifth wheels. There a bit out there.-

Snowbird a few sites down from me has a new Redwood and has had lots of problems too. Delaminating slide sides, Interior trim loose, entry light has the lens cover sealed to the side wall without any base so that in order to change a burnt out bulb you need to cut away all the sealer to get it off and then need to stick it back with more sealer:) Lots of other little things that made him say he wishes he had bought something different.

I've never thought much about Redwood. Appeared to be just a dressed up Montana. Grand Design Solitude has had many very good comments on this forum. It would be worth the time to read what comes up in the search box. I have been impressed with Grand Design construction and value when I have looked over at the RV shows. Randu

Both are good. Choose the one you like for the goodies you like. We have a Redwood. Could not be more pleased. I see many bad reports on different units. Like autos or anything else, there are lemons out there. Most of the time you don't hear about the ones that don't have problems. We have had no problems with the unit to this point. Tows like a dream, set up is easy. Good luck making your choice.

Another happy Redwood owner. We fulltime in ours and have only had the convection oven issue to deal with, it was replaced by Frigidaire under warranty easily enough. I don't think either of the brands you mentioned are bad. We looked at both when we got our, wish the Grand Design had full body paint though.

Be sure to do your research on the Internet and not just this forum, lots of people here have VERY strong opinions based on second hand information. Take that for what it's worth.

BTW the Redwood has a very good 2 year warranty, that was one of the determining factors for us.

Extremely happy with our 2014 Redwood 36RL. Dont know anything about a Solitude.
