No way with a 3/4. I towed ours home empty from Texas with a 1-ton. Added our equipment and you can see the DRW I drive now. Pin weight is over 4,300 lbs with water, 3,600 without. The only difference between the RE and RL is the television is on the back wall on an RE instead of the side like an RL.

If pin weight is 25% of gross 5er weight and water adds 700lbs (4300-3600=700) to pin weight, you must be hauling 2800lbs of water. WOW!!!! Or maybe you have a king size waterbed directly over the pin.
    Huh?

The 104 gallon water tank is located in the front - it is what it is. Your 25% rule of thumb would only apply to gross weight and is a generalization. At 17,222 Gross, my 4,322 pin weight is spot on with 25%

We are right on 25%. We do store a lot under the bed and in the basement.
  • We have been looking at Redwoods, and really like them. Did you buy it and do you like it.
  • We really liked them. Bought one and still really like it :)

We had several Montana's and were looking to upgrade again. The Redwood offered things not available on the Montana or even Big Sky line, so we went for the Redwood.

Great fit and finish, attractive inside and out, nice warranty. If you click our "our rig" it will show a little of it with some info. You are also welcome to check out www.redwoodrvowners.com and www.redwoodowners.com, or just ask the folks that have them her on RV.net
  • Atom, your Redwood looks awesome, and how is the new truck doing. I'm wanting to go to a 1 ton myself, and can't decide what brand.

Thanks GaryP. The truck is a towing machine and a pleasure to drive, but with that, it has haunted me on a few things just to remind me I bought it used and not new. It had bad driveshaft that tore up the ring and pinion, which is probably why it was on the lot. Just got it back yesterday and all fixed up.
  • Yes the big trucks are expensive to repair, but I do like the Ford's looks. Glad your back on the road with that beautiful Redwood.
