reese 20k hitch

So far not liking my new 20 k reese hitch. It is the pro series and I think its a cheaper version. Had the dealer put a new rails and hitch in when I bought my new dually. I think iam going back to my 16k b&w hitch. I find I hear a lot of banging from it . Its not my pin box I know that. I can grab this thing and move it around by hand and it bangs.
  • I didn't like my Reese 20K when we first got it mainly because the trigger was too sensitive and it kept relatching when I was trying to unhook. Then it behaved for 5 years until this summer when it made horrible popping and baning noises. I thought I had a broken pin box and I spent a lot of labor disassembling the front of the rig to find nothing wrong. It was the hitch - it needed grease on the front / back pivot.

The hitch flexes a lot and I think that contributes to chucking.

I wish I still had the Hijacker 24K I had in my last truck.
  • My reese makes a little creaking an groaning when backing around.

So what is the big deal on that. It doesn't bother me, or must not cus i have not put pads under the legs.

Let her rip tader chip. :W

i can just see the reese bashers rallying around the ole camp fire. Now we have something to talk about. :R
  • I think using the Patriot would be the better choice. The 16k would be able to handle your FW, but if you feel more is better, the 18K Patriot is another choice. It is a welded together version of the 16K, that is bolted together. You could sell both current hitches, get the 18K Patriot, and maybe have a few $$$ left over.
