The pics that Old-Biscuit are telling in the details. The aluminum sidewalls of the fiver are bolted to the sides of the steel frame with long bolts thru the hollow aluminum tube. So, the fiver body provides little (but not zero) structural support and less over time as the bolts wallow out the aluminum tubes. So, stress on the steel frame increases over time even if all other conditions were to remain constant.
By comparison, the GN trailer uses steel wall framing that is both on top of the steel frame and welded to it. Unless the welds fail, the walls are providing constant structural strength.
AND the gooseneck frame all comes together at the gooseneck hitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The 5th wheel hitch is out in the middle of a field like a lost farmer!
