Totally the opposite of my Reese Elite. when unhooking I raise the fifth wheel until the weight is off the hitch ,but no higher, pull the handle, and drive away. Not once have I had an issue with the jaws not releasing.

Sounds like he wants to stay away from the picture frame, if I had it to do over today, it would be the Andersen. Can't see why the Andersen wouldn' work great with the Reese Revolution pin box.

Up2nogood, I know others like the Reese hitch. My experience certainly wasn't the same as yours. Maybe I had a defective unit. I wish it worked as well for me. I unhook exactly the way you describe. I tried everything with mine but nothing seemed to help.
If your talking about the Andersen Ultimate I don't think it will work. The pinbox has to be wedged in the hitch so it can't pivot.

I just looked the rEESE you are mentioning is about the same price as the B&W RVK3600.

Do your self a favor and LOOK at the two hitches very carefully. The B&W is a simple rock solid design, the 1" thick machined jaws and the simple latching handle make this hitch a pleasure to use. 25K towing and 6,250# pin.

Oh also the B&W is 100% made in USA. Please correct me if I am wrong but the REESE is either Made in China or Mexico. I do know the Curt 5er hitches are ALL made in China.

That Reese 30160 is the same hitch as the Reese Elite, same hitch that I have, the difference is the mounting system ,mine attaches to an ISR system or the picture frame. The 30160 attaches to the puck system on your Ram ,only difference.

My Reese has worked without issue for a few years now. Do yourself a favor ,and check into the Andersen, but there is nothing wrong with the Reese IMO .

Grampscamper, yes but trying to avoid picture frame. May still be best option. That is why I am hoping for someone who has first hand experience with the 30160 Reese hitch, it's a fairly new piece as far as I can see.

You sound like you would be a great candidate for the Andersen hitch,have you looked into them.

A gooseneck ball is all you would need with the Andersen Ultimate Hitch,and the factory prep.

My 1997 16K Reese manual slider is a great little hitch. Its been on three trucks and two 10k and a 11k trailers and still slides and hooking operations are like a hot knife through butter. All it takes is a bit of mechanical know how to make a mechanical contraption actually work.
I have no idea what your hitch number leads to but as with any thing mechanical keep it in good working condition.

Another Reese complaint. It is just the hardest hitch I ever used. Just very hard to hook up and unhook. Bought the b&W, and could not believe the difference. Saved considerable time just hooking and unhooking, plus I felt way more secure.

I had the Ram 25K hitch and picture frame part of my purchase package from Ram. Works well and have had no issues.
