From NJ. Thinking of relocating in a year or two. Any ideas in the eastern tenn west sc west nc. Any suggestions would help.

Asheville, NC is listed in the top 10 retirement communities because of the cost of living, availability of medical care, but also for the arts community and things to do in the area.
You might want to consider the "Tri-cities" area of NE Tennessee. About an hour north of Gatlinburg, Asheville. You are about 3 1/2 hrs north of Atlanta, hour from Knoxville.
The tri includes Kingsport, TN, Johnson City, TN and Bristol, TN/and VA. The cost of living is greatly decreased in these areas.
