That is what I do with mine every time I unhitch the 5er. No walking into it while rounding the camper. Pull it out straight when ready to hook back up.

Very happy with my 5th Airborne Sidewinder as it works for me and my setup perfectly.

With the sidewinder having the pivot point near the rear bumper I suspect the 5th wheel would track like a pull trailer!

This could be a plus as this week-end I had a mishap with a gate post because my 5th wheel tracks inside the truck.

With the actual weight on the king pin I suspect highway handling would be the same as with a conventional pin box.

I know a couple of people with Sidewinders and they work good for what they were designed and allow the tongue to swing completely out of the way when unhooked. The bolts on your pinbox are capable of being torque to spec more than once just like your wheel nuts and most are grade 5 bolts making them less brittle. If you are really worried about the pinbox bolts holding your upper 5th on change them out for grade 8 fine thread with stover nuts and they will exceed the strength of the mild steel at least 10 fold. Lock washers are old technology leaving scars on the parent metal and nut faces. Nylock and stover nuts are much nicer leaving no burrs behind to catch things on. Torque wrenches were designed to set and reset bolts as needed unless there is apparent stress stretching or damage to the threads they should not need to be replaced. Overzealous monkeys in shops with high output impacts will stretch bolts on anything before most people will with a 1/2" ratchet.

You are talking apples and oranges. I don't put lock washers on my lug nuts either. Not that lug nuts damage bolts, just highlight the difference in the applications.

I don't and have moved/replaced my pin box 3 times. I moved it twice and replaced it with a MorRyde. Same bolts and it hasn't moved in 5000 miles. I have scribe marks on the frame where the two meet and everything's stayed in place.

While the pivot point moves, the weight applied to the truck remains at the king pin.

nope

The revolution moves the pivot point back which makes it turn more like a trailer than a fiver. If you have a short bed, it negates the need for a slider hitch. It sounds like that type of pinbox would do what the OP wants.
