Replacement water heater door

My fiver (in sig) got side swiped over a month ago. Been working through insurance (mine of course, because the offending driver was uninsured...), and working with a local RV dealership in repairing the over $3,000 in damage has been....well...as expected. Truly a bunch of clowns, whom know not professionalism.

So now I have to take the last parts of the repair into my own hands. Here's my question: how do I get the correct color replacement water heater door / frame? It's a Suburban 10 gallon water heater. The dealership installed a black door, and the previous door was color-matched to the trailer. I don't even know what color you would call my trailer (beige?). It's not white, not black.

Calling and leaving voicemails with Forest River has yielded no response over the past 2 weeks.

How do I find the correct color water heater door / frame?
  • I know you stated calling/voicemails no response but what number did you call?

    Salem 5th wheel Service
    Tony Hufnagle
    Phone:
    (574) 534-1251
  • I did finally get ahold of Tony yesterday. Emailed him pictures, as well as the VIN. Standing by for a response.
  • Forest River made good and sent me the correct color-matched water heater door. I never heard any further correspondence from FR, but the door arrived on my door step today, no charge. I would say that was a good showing on Forest River's part, to pick up the ball that the dealership dropped.
  • Have you tried calling Colaw in Carthage Mo. They have used parts. http://colawrvsalvage.com/
  • Thanks for the tip - but FR sent me the correct door and frame for free!

Well, how about that. Kinda stinks they couldn't respond directly to your calls but cudos to them for sending the part no charge. Big thumbs up to FR :D
