Replacing Couch in 5th Wheel

I have a 2011 32' Stealth 5th/Toy hauler. My couch is on the main slide and I want to replace it. As we do a lot of winter camping/off-roading we spend time in the rig and the couch is very uncomfortable. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated. Also do I have to use an RV couch or can I replace it with a normal couch?

  • We replaced the uncomfortable couch that came with our Suite with a nice two person love seat. It was the same width of the original couch and a lot more comfy. Bob's Furniture delivered and removed the old sleeper couch and that saved my back from aching..lol. It is also about 70 pounds lighter.

I'm looking at replacing the sleeper/sofa in mine with theater seating type of recliners. I understand getting the old one out. Stand it on end and straighten it and shove it out the door. Problem is the new one. The old is 68" wide(and that tall when on end), the new is 76" wide.. The door is 68" tall?????

Anyone worked a wider(taller) one in the vertically challenged doorway?

Are you SURE your door is only 68" tall? That doesn't seem high enough for a 5er door. Can you take the couch through the door at an angle? bottom part of couch be at lower left or right hand corner and top part of couch be at the opposite top corner? It'll give you more height, but it depends on how thick couch is....If door is only 68" tall, anyone over 5' 8" would bump their head going in or out....sounds too low.

  • We replaced the heavy sleeper/sofa with a Lazy Boy love seat dual recliner...it's lighter and we love it...same length as the sofa bed...then we canned the two recliners that came with the unit and put in a scissor couch bed...nice and long across the back of the 5er and will make a bed far more comfortable than the sleeper/sofa made..

Just take measurements, watch the weight and make sure you can get the furniture into the 5er..With the LazyBoy loveseat dual recliner set up, you can remove the backs and it's easy putting the unit in the 5er...With sleeper sofa, we opened it up and no problem with putting it into the 5er either....
  • We removed our sofa that was a sleeper so it was easy to remove though the entry door. I made it a bed so that it was flat and tipped it upright and out the door we went. In went the recliner the same way. Of course you need a helper.

  • You can replace it with whatever you want just consider the weight factor! And...the challenge will be getting the old out and the new in...perhaps easier with a toy hauler! Many places to look...you can start HERE
