The Trailer King RST+ tires my 5er came with are ST235/80R16 which is a F load rating.The fact that they are factory tires makes me nervous. And the fact that they are F rated makes me nervous.Sailuns are apparently bad now from Vietnam, at least this batch.Only thing my Discount Tire can get in my size is a Carlisle 14 ply G rated.Am I moving up with this swap or does Carlisle have a bad rap?

With 16" tires you should be able to find an LT tire that would be as good if not better than an ST. Just make sure it has the load rating you need.Many people have good things to say about the Carlisle HD. If you can't find anything else I wouldn't be afraid to buy them.

I put the Carlisle HD on one travel trailer, and it worked fine....no problems.Ken

I switched out my Trailer Kings for Carlisles. It was a good decision. Great tires.

Well this is starting out to be very encouraging.. I'm glad to be reading what I am reading.

Is discount tire the only place you can buy tires?You might look around - what is the weight of your trailer? Just because a couple people report a bad batch of Sailun tires, doesn't mean all Sailun tires are now bad. I think the consensus is that that is the best G rated tire for the money. The other option being Good Year. I believe that Carlisles are on the OK list, but you can probably get a better tire.

Replacing New Trailer King RST+ : Only Option Is Carlisle??

I had a blowout on a Sailun on our 5th. I replaced with Herculles. So far great.
I have Carlisle on a dual axle boat trailer and 2 utility trailers no issues. Had the Carlisles on a Montana 5th wheel no issues.

There have been a few on the Montana Forum, and I just encountered a loss of the inner third of tread on a 2 year old Sailun made in China, tire never lost air so we had no idea it happened until several days later. Needless to say, I'll be keeping a much closer watch on the other tires.

Several posters on the Grand Design forum have described tread separation with their Sailun tires purchased earlier this year and manufactured in Vietnam.

The 255/85R16 rim width spec is 6.5-8". The 235/85R16 has 3,640# @ 80psi rating with a rim size 6-7.5".

So the GY ENDURANCE is a real choice for heavier 5er's.

There is another that has a big rating that may use narrower rim.

I took a look at the specs on the Endurance ,calls for a 7" rim, most likely he is running 6" , that leaves out those size Endurance ,unless you think he should run them on an undersized rim ? Otherwise ,maybe you have other suggestions for a tire for him .

If that tire size will fit his rims . Have never looked at the specs for that size Endurance.

Yes some of the Montana High Country's have come OE F rated , from what I have read on the Montana forum .
