Replacing the shower tub...

THIS is an oldie and has a couple of small "cracks"...
Because of the small space, how tough would this be? It looks a bit daunting...??
Although we have looked at different rvs, every time Patti walks into our 5th wheel she really does not want to part with it. IT IS very nice and homey....
Thanks for any input.
  • There are a couple of god RV rebuilders in California. I cannot remember either one right now BUT why don't you invest in our RV and have a new tub put in professionally
  • It is a lot easier to install a shower only unit. They come with a base/floor unit and separate walls that you caulk at the joints. A tub is nearly impossible to get into the bathroom. Plan on using a Sawzall to cut up the old tub for removal.
  • We have done it ourselves, twice. The tub is not that hard to get in. Start at an angle and then level out as the tub slides into place.

We saved at least $800.00 by doing it ourselves, and after the second time, we discovered the reason for the crack, (manufactures error) and eliminated that also.
  • I guess the big challenge may be finding the correct size or is that a standard for the last MANY years...

Different sizes and drain configurations, but easy to find at RV parts warehouses.
