I actually do just that ,2 group 31 batteries .Worst case test , mid 80's temp, fridge at that temp (open doors)with no cool or cold items in fridge I closed the doors and turned it on.
The inverter turned off (low voltage) after about 3 hours but the fridge and freezer were at the requested temp - good to go.
Yah. We also found out that the overnight cooling wasn't necessary. Maybe an hour before you need it turn in on. Good to go.
