I feel like I may ought to qualify my comment "I would never go back to the RV fridge of old".
Prior to my current rig with the residential fridge, I had a 35' TT with RV LP/Electric fridge for 13 years. Prior to that it was a tent and a Coleman cooler. Given the experience of all three, I like the size and features over the residential fridge above all. As my camping experience grows and I get older, I like a few extra comforts. The current RV is prepped for generator and solar. I will add solar at some point and for now a portable generator is sufficient for our limited dry camping. Another plus to the resi-fridge is I only have to refill an LP tank every 2 years. We don't use much LP gas since it is for cooking in side and the furnace in the Fall. With the RV LP/electric, I would refill at least one LP tank every year.
Resi-fridge still gets my vote. Still have the Coleman cooler for beer by the fire. Come sit by the fire and have a beer and tell a ghost story or two. But no politics! :)
