I have just looked at my Magunm panel and it says a start of 10amps and runs at 7amps running our Samsung RF197 is that OK? We are running off solar.
It is important to remember that modern inverter reefers DO NOT use energy like old-tech reefers. For example, from another user: a 20cu LG inverter based top freezer unit. Sold at all the big box stores. After a couple of days running it measures 46 watts running at regular cycle. About a 50% duty cycle, in a 70 degree ambient temp. So that's about 25 watts an hour or 600 watts a day! Of course you have to figure inverter losses into your consumption. No noticeable surge upon startup.
LG, F&P, Samsung, most major brands are using inverter technology which, comparatively, "sip" electricity. Inverter reefers do not produce large startup surges, and the highest duty cycle you will see is 50%, with most less than that.
