Restringing Large Rear Window Day/Night Shade

The strings on our large rear window day/night shade broke. We removed the valance in order to remove the shade and found out it was screwed directly into the frame and not on a bracket. So, this shade only has a top rail, the bottom of the night and then the top of the day section and its bottom rail, for a total of 4 rails and 4 vertical strings. No springs. I've only found instructions online that include springs in the top rails. Has anyone here every restrung day night shades of this style?

Thanks.

I redid mine. I'm surprised you don't have springs.

We did. One in the top and that was it.

With a single action blind, I can understand one spring on a single string (looped). But the double-action has 2 strings looped.

Double action? Do you mean a day/night shade combined? Well, ours is a day/night shade and it only had one spring at the top, but 4 strings that had to be crisscrossed between the top (night shade) section and the bottom (day shade) section. It all works beautifully with the perfect tension.
  • Yes, you're right. The blind has all strings attached to a single spring at the top.
